FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How Subscope works, how billing operates, and how to optimize your software stack.

Getting started

How long does setup take?

Minutes. Sign in with your corporate Google Workspace account and Subscope builds your first subscription inventory from vendor emails right away — no IT project, no CSV uploads, no integration work. You can add more sources later: bank statements, direct API connections, and the Chrome extension.

Which data sources does Subscope use?

Five, and you choose which to enable: vendor emails from your corporate mailbox, bank statements, direct API integrations with your software and AI tools, the Subscope Chrome extension, and SSO-based usage tracking. Email alone is enough to get started — the rest add depth as you grow.

Do my employees need to install anything?

Nothing is required. Employees get access to the company software catalog where they can find tools and request access. The optional Chrome extension helps employees too: before signing up for a new tool, they instantly see it's already available in the company and can request a seat directly from the subscription owner — no duplicate subscriptions. There are no background agents on anyone's device.

I already use an expense tool (Ramp, Brex, Rippling…). Why Subscope?

Expense tools record spend after the money has already left your account. Subscope's job is to warn you before the charge happens — flagging upcoming renewals, unused seats, and orphaned licenses in advance. And beyond spend, Subscope simplifies how software works inside the company: requesting a subscription from its license owner becomes simpler, faster, and more transparent.

Security & privacy

How does Subscope access my data? Is it secure?

Subscope passed Google's CASA Tier 3 security audit, performed by TAC Security — a Google-recommended auditor. We connect with read-only access, process only emails from software vendors tied to your subscriptions, and never touch personal correspondence. We don't store passwords, and you can revoke access at any time.

Does usage tracking monitor what my employees do?

No. Subscope and its Chrome extension track corporate software only — which company apps are used and how often — so you can spot unused seats and shadow IT. Personal sites and browsing are never tracked, and there are no screenshots, no keystrokes, and no access to message or document content. Tracking is transparent: employees see the same software catalog and know what's being measured.

What happens when someone leaves the company?

Subscope reminds you the moment someone is offboarded, shows every subscription and seat tied to them, and lets you revoke access before the next billing cycle. No more licenses quietly billing for months after a person has left.

Pricing & billing

Does the free version show ads or sell my data?

No! We don't display ads or sell your data to advertisers, banks, or software companies. We believe the free version is the first step to spending your money more efficiently.
And the more we alert you to unexpected software charges, employees leaving who were using subscriptions, and licenses you pay for but don't use, the more benefits you'll see.
Over time, your company will grow, and you'll be tempted to upgrade to the pro version when you realize you're saving more than you pay for Subscope.

How much does it cost?

Subscope is free for small teams — up to 10 employees, with unlimited mailbox data collection. Paid plans start at $34/month for SMEs and $189/month for growing companies. Our principle is simple: we only get paid when you save. See the Pricing page for full details.

Can I change or cancel my plan anytime?

Yes. Upgrades take effect instantly; downgrades apply at the next billing cycle. You can cancel whenever you want — your data and settings stay intact, and there are no hidden fees or lock-in contracts.

What payment methods do you accept?

All major credit and debit cards. Annual plans can also be paid by invoice via bank transfer — just ask.
